Punto Chair

Punto is one of By Pizarro's classic designs that originated in the '80s. This chair was designed to stand out and break the rules. After a lot of testing, we discovered methods to create durable 3-legged chairs. We like to play with form and construction, especially with a three-legged chair like this one that required design engineering. We played with a lot of material choices for the cushion and regularly sold them mix matched. We carefully constructed the chair and discovered a lot of design techniques along the way. We found that the width of the stainless steel legs covered more surface area on the ground. Increasing the surface area added to the stability of the chair. The wide legs give an elegant reflection to the colors and textures on the cushion.

CONSTRUCTION

Punto chair was one of the first chairs we put into a mass scale production at By Pizarro. We knew that we needed to create a product that could fall easily into a production line. The stainless steel allows the opportunity for no paint or other finishing requirements. The triangular base structure is secure, and with the stainless, this chair can withstand a significant amount of weight. The cushion has internal reinforcements with a wooden slab that bolts directly into the stainless steel base.
